Property Information

The first section of the fence zoning permit is all about the property information. This includes the address, which is obvious, and the block, lot, and zone of the property.

If you’re super organized, you might know that information off the top of your head. However, a lot of people don’t – and that’s OK. You might have to dig out your paperwork from when you bought the house or a tax bill. You can always call town hall and see if they’ll help you out.

Application Information

Next up is the application information. Another easy section. The only way this section won’t be your information is if you have your fence installer apply for the permit for you. If the township has any questions, they’ll use this information to contact you.

Owner Information

You can actually just check a box on this part if you’re filling out the application yourself because it will be the same as the above section.

Description

The last part before you package everything up and sign is the improvement description.

Denville gives you a few lines to provide a brief description of the proposed improvement/project.

Be sure to include the height and a photo of the fence being installed. If we are installing your fence, we have a ton of photos here on the website. You can also call the office and we’ll send you over a picture you can use.

What Else Do You Need?

Along with your completed permit application, you will also have to mail in or drop off a two marked-up survey copies and a check.

Denville requires you to submit two to-scale copies of your property survey when applying for a fence permit. You or your fence contractor will have to mark the location of the fence and include a small description.

Please do not enlarge or reduce the original survey since this distorts the scale. Denville will not accept a reduced or enlarged survey.

The township of Denville, New Jersey charges $75 for a fence zoning permit application. Don’t forget to include the check!
